strawberrychoux asked: Hi! Your art is a big inspiration for me. It's really wonderful and I admire it a lot! And your Shepard is just awesome! So, I was wondering (and I'm terribly sorry if you already answered this), what are your inspirations and major influences in art?
Aww, thank you! :3 As for contemporary influences, I’ll copy-paste from a similar question on the other blog:
Porn-wise, I’ve watched Ackanime over the years and have a fondness for her cute, soft style. Ovens has a great loose style, and Amanda Lafrenais’s characters all have a really charming roundness to them. Those are really the only online porn artists I’m familiar with; there are a ton of general audiences artists online I admire. Off the top of my head, some of them are…
*deep breath*
Makani, Claire Hummel, Clio Chiang, EK Weaver, Deseo One, Kevin Dalton (though I think he may have retired from the internet; last I heard he was dealing with some serious health issues), Brianne Drouhard, Maresuke, Bengal, Emmy Cicierega, Yves “Balak” Bigerel, Kim Se-Ra, Amber Jones, Alina Urusov, Becky Cloonan, Chris Goodwin, and a ton of other people I’m forgetting right now, as well as professional folk who probably don’t fit that well into the “online” description.
As for classical influences, I learned what Art Nouveau was in college and have been a big Mucha and Klimt fan ever since (and Schiele to a lesser extent, mostly because I dig his sketches more than his finished work); I love Sargent’s painterliness and the human touches in his portraits, Bouguereau’s softness, and Leyendecker’s amazing, crisp rendering of color. Among comic artists, Adam Hughes is always a favorite, as are Terry Dodson, Ted Naifeh, and Frank Cho. Pretty much anyone who takes a solid approach to figure drawing and/or is a slick inker.
Anonymous asked: Your Venezuela link is interesting. Do stay-at-home dads also benefit?
Admittedly, I don’t know enough about Venezuelan culture to state one way or the other. I also don’t know if the incidence of stay-at-home fathers is as prevalent there as it is in the US, which would factor in to that sort of provision.
Why aren’t more people freaking out about the new Venezuelan labor law?
You know, the one that gives housewives/full-time mothers a pension— wages for housework?
It’s ONLY A HUGE VICTORY FOR FEMINISM, SOCIALISM, AND WOMEN OF COLOR. Not a big deal or anything. Tumblr is mysteriously silent about this.
